Machiavellian and Wildheart

... was just reading up the summary of "The Prince" by this Florentine diplomat / philosopher (Machiavellian) as recommended by my lecturer Pamela Wildheart (Funky name huh? I'l get back to her in a jiffy).

His writing provides insights and advice still appropriate to today's managers and organizations as they were almost 500 or more years ago. All i did was to share with my boyfriend a quote by this guy which WOW-ed me and i'm sure there're many others i have not come across yet.

"Becoming a prince primarily by being a wicked genius is also full of dangers and problems. If you have no mercy, no religion, kill people and deceive your friends you might be able to get an empire - you will not have any glory. Such wickedness could be respected, but never celebrated."
~Machiavellian

My bf seemed to have burnt the book and drank it. He knows too much of this book and said that you cannot be a student of Political Science and International Relations if you have not read this book. Yes, he did Political Science in the University *GAG*
His exact words:
"We can see Machiavellian's writings mirrored in every life, his work has remained relevant even after so many centuries bec. it reveals something that will stay constant through time: the darkness of human nature. It indeed was written as advice to a ruler, Ferdinand. But it also exhibits a good understanding of the psyche of the 'mob': the centre piece of modern day democracy. Hitler and Mussolini too are known to have read it closely. The wonderful thing is that this is a timeless piece of work that will probably never lose its relevance. It was written at a time when the church was so powerful but it boldly criticises the church for being corrupted by worldly affairs and makes a case for separating religion frm politics, but islam purports to do otherwise. Hence, we have this 'clash of civilisation' today"

(YL, if u're reading this, you might find the above a little useful *wink*)

So much for just sharing a quote. I don't know if i should be happy i got myself a well-read bf or to be worried that I will have to catch up with him. HAHAHA!

WELL! Classes have begun and we are being lectured by ex-radio personality / DJ Pamela 'Wildheart'. Of course, not her real surname (Can't recall the real one) Very lively lady. Really admire people who speak so well. She's currently a Senior Sales Manager or the like in the Bird Park. The stories she shared with us were hilarious. She mentioned weddings by 'The Waterfall' in the BirdPark during the sunset is very popular and how they've to ready lovebirds and mandarian ducks and even a bird to fly in with the ring. Every bird of course costs money. The things people do. I am looking forward to the next 10 or so lectures by her.

Did I mention YL and I made our very first blunder by going to the wrong lecture theatre, initially? The lecturer just looked wrong and when someone said that was a FK / FS lecture, YL and I just stomped out of the theatre and laughed all the way to the right one. When we saw our golden haired, loud - voiced, energyball lecturer, I was like 'This is it'. The Beginning of a New Chapter.
